I have been trying and testing a bunch of gorgeous skincare products from Demalogica to try as I have recently become part of their Skinfluencer programme which I am very excited about! I’m always on the look out for new products that will help with balancing my combination skin, but that also doesn’t involve a 2 hour pampering session before work in the morning! …they also come with a cute hair band and I am very much down for that.
As you’ll know if you’ve read my previous skincare blogposts, I have fairly sensative skin. Its a combination of dry and oily in patches but also is very sensative to anything too strong or harsh. I don’t get many spots or breakouts, or uneven skin tones but I do get a lot of clogged pores and find my skin looks very dull and tired a lot of the time.
I was very excited to try these as I love the aesthetic of the brand and the style of the packaging, the products and the uniqueness of the products themselves.
The pre-cleanse is the first step in the cleansing process. It claims to deep cleanse and melt impurities and makeup from the skin. The fact you use it with dry hands and add to dry skin before adding any water or moisture to the process intrigued me as it’s very different to other cleansers I’ve used. You then wet your hands and lather the mixture on your face until its a soft creamy texture before rinsing it off. You can use this as a pre-cleanse before using the cleansing gel but I’ve found it just as effective on it’s own and leaves my skin feeling soft and fresh.
At first I wasn’t really sure when to use this, or how to incorporate it into my skincare routine, but I’ve found myself reaching for it most days now, mainly in the morning although you can use it both morning and night. I like to use it to cleanse my face in the morning and wake me up. It leaves my skin feeling really fresh and clean which is very helpful for those 6am starts! It’s a foaming gel and you just use it with water rubbing it all over your face and it claims to ‘wash away impurities without stripping or drying’. It’s also soap free and very gentle, which again…works wonders for my sensitive skin.
This was my favourite product to try because it’s unlike any other exfoliating product I’ve used, its in a powder form and claims to even skin tone, brighten and smooth skin. You use about half a teaspoon into very wet hands and then rub together to form a creamy paste. You apply it to your face in circular motions and massage for 1 minute then rinse off, its so easy to use and my skin has definitely felt softer and as if I’ve ‘gotten all the rubbish out of my pores’ …I’m sure you all know the feeling! It’s also incredibly gentle, which I find essential in an exfoliator due to having slightly sensitive skin and anything harsh really doesn’t work well and leaves my skin feeling sore and raw.
Claims to be a lightweight hydrating moisturiser, which nourishes and softens skin for dehydration. For someone who suffers with combination skin I have found that hydrating my skin as opposed to using a lot of moisturisers or skin oils works best, the hydrating products give my skin the nourishment and moisture it needs without adding to any oily-ness but simultaneously helps with any dry patches, I’ve been using this morning and night and its worked wonders!
Claims to smooth brighten and prime for flawless skin and to prep for make-up application and can be worn on it’s own or under makeup! I like to use this under my makeup mainly as I consider primer an essential part of my makeup routine and it has defo made a big difference to how fresh my make up looks all day, it just kind of ‘sits’ on my face better? without looking like I need to pop to the loo and top up on the old concealer.
Overall First Impressions of the Brand:
I love love love these products. It’s rare I find a brand in which I love trying every single product but they have tailored these to my skin perfectly and the whole process has felt very personal which is lovely. What I love most about this brand is the simplicity, the packaging is very simple and adds to the idea that the products aren’t ‘fussy’. They do what they’re supposed to do, they give you the results you need and they are incredibly gentle on the skin. I’ve loved using them in combination with each other but also using them alone and I’ve noticed a huge difference in my skins complexion and brightness, but I’ve also noticed that the ‘combination’ element of my skin being partly oily and partly dry has less of a contrast, the oily areas are less oily and the dry areas feel more hydrated. They get a huge YES from me and I’m so excited to be part of the Skininfluencer programme!
